New executive director at Ringier Romania boulevard division
October 31, 2006 on 2:53 pm | by Iulian Comanescu | In Print media |Lucian Romascanu is the new executive director of the Ringier Romania Boulevard division, says Jurnalismonline.ro. The strongest publisher on the Romanian market, Ringier Romania, recently underwent a HR crisis after the leave of Razvan Corneteanu, the former executive director of the Boulevard Division. Several managers from the business area and more than half of the team at the most succesful Romanian newspaper, “Libertatea” (a tabloid selling 250-270.000 copies/day), left for the new media holding of the controversial Romanian oil mogul Dinu Patriciu.
The “Libertatea” team, headed by the ex-Editor-in-Chief Adrian Halpert and including most of the board, took over “Averea”, to rebrand it and transform it into a big sales tabloid.
Lucian Romascanu will report directly to Alexander Theobald, the new General Manager of Ringier Romania, and will be in charge of the “Libertatea” and “Pro Sport” newspapers.
Ringier Romania press release:
LUCIAN ROMASCANU IS APPOINTED EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE RINGIER BOULEVARD AND SPORTS NEWSPAPERS DIVISION
October 31st 2006 – Starting November 1st 2006, Lucian Romascanu is appointed Executive Director of the Boulevard and Sports Newspapers Division of Ringier Romania. He will be a direct report to the General Manager and member of the board of directors of Ringier Romania.
Lucian Romascanu (39, married) has an extensive management experience, joining Ringier Romania after having run a personal management consultancy project and after having obtained remarkable results as Managing Director of HL Display Romania, where he started and developed the local operations of the Swedish company. Previously, Romascanu contributed to the development and consolidation of the company Print Services as an Executive Director.
In 2002 he obtained an Executive MBA with Assebuss in partnership with the University of Washington.
Romascanu already has a 3 years experience with Ringier (1999-2002). Back then he ran the advertising departments of more divisions, managing to obtain in a short period of time significant performances together with the teams that he formed and trained. For a short period of time he also ensured the coordination of the marketing activities for the titles Libertatea and Gazeta Sporturilor (at that time part of the Ringier portfolio).
Thomas Landolt, General Manager of Ringier Romania, declared:“I am very happy to appoint in this highly important position a person who has the skills and talent to further develop Libertatea and ProSport along with all their brand extensions. Lucian impressed us by his strategic approach and by his results oriented attitude that came out obviously both from his career path and from the discussions we had along the recruitment process.”
Lucian Romascanu declared:“To me this is a great challenge. Over the years I followed the evolution of the products I worked for and the proposition to come back is altogether a great joy and a big responsibility. Now I am offered the generous opportunity to ensure the commercial growth of 2 dailies. Both Libertatea and ProSport have an impressive history and great results and I can only hope that my vision, along with the assets that a media company like Ringier offers will be a wining card. My first test in Ringier will be to win the trust and confidence of the teams that I will work with.”
